Overview of Results:

 

Collaborated with 3 peers to solder, design, program, & troubleshoot an Arduino microprocessor and XBee transmitter based wireless sensor network. Navigated use of fixed resources & designed ethical data collection to protect personal privacy.  Demonstrated the results of small-scale implementation of the sensor network, after of recording electricity usage of a wall outlet & temperature gradient across a room.

Big Idea: 

 

Create a campus wide sensor network to monitor heat flow and electricity usage so individuals could modify their behavior to conserve more energy and the administration could invest in green infrastructure or remodeling in problem area outside of individuals’ control.
